Yesterday, the Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège came alive with the first notes of the International Opera Conducting Competition!
🔹 Welcome & draw: the excitement was real! 24 candidates from around the world gathered to discover their order of passage and the overture they would conduct.
🔹 Elimination round – first baton strokes! The stage was set for music! Under the watchful eye of the jury, 12 candidates took the podium, bringing their unique interpretation to some of the greatest overtures: from Norma to Nabucco, via Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, each conductor brought their own vision and energy.
