Concert-recital : Callas, a passion...
Callas, a passion, a destiny
Maria Callas (1923-1977) is still the symbol of the opera genre. A model of the diva, universally known and renowned, she helped to give the opera of the 20th century an exceptional dimension by combining an inimitable voice with the craft of a natural-born tragedian, investing herself in the tragic roles that she played like no other. Who could forget her second act of Tosca or her famous performance as Norma? Her legendary Casta Diva remains a reference in the history of bel canto. Maria Callas was Carmen, Violetta, Tosca, Norma or Lady Macbeth… and the fate of these heroines inhabited her own destiny as a woman. Her life was a drama and her fragility still today does not cease to fascinate or touch.
This concert-recital will, through an epic tale interspersed with the greatest arias that built her glory, revisit the living legend of La Callas, a woman who today features in the pantheon of the art’s treasures because she was so profoundly inhabited by the complexities of human nature.
Alain Duault will tell her story and Béatrice Uria-Monzon will bring back to life the lyrical moments.
