Already known for singing in Il Trovatore in 2018, Daniel Oren was scheduled to conduct I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata on our stage in April 2021. As the production was cancelled, this Maestro designed a concert programme with the Spanish soprano Saioa Hernández as the soloist. Together they lure us on a journey blending Verdi’s work and verisimo.

Saioa Hernández and Daniel Oren met during the production of Tosca at the Verona Arena and were happy to unite on our stage for a programme performing symphonic movements dear to the Maestro, but above all, aiming to spotlight the voice of a rising star in classical singing today.

I’ve deeply treasured the Liège Opera and its musicians since my first moments with them, and I’ll return with a sad heart after losing my very dear friend Stefano Mazzonis who welcomed me in Liège like a family member. But during this unprecedented time in history the world needs Art which is why I’m also incredibly honoured to once again perform music in this Theatre. I’m sure I’ll enjoy the same sensations as during my first visit.
