Jonas Kaufmann Concert postponed
The star of the stages…
Jonas Kaufmann is one of the most famous tenors in the world. His outstanding voice, dedicated work and immense repertoire have made this native of Munich a blue chip standard performer sought after by the most prestigious opera houses. He comes from a family of musicians and learned to play the piano and sing for choirs before being encouraged to follow classes in his home town. After frequent appearances on stage in Germany, he perfected his art with the immense James King and Hans Hotter. His career then literally took off.
A unique voice…
His vocal style is characterised by great musicality, backed up by a sombre-coloured tone and radiant poise in the high register. He is also an excellent actor, making him one of the most complete artists of his generation.
With a broad repertoire, Jonas Kaufmann is equally at ease with Mozart as with Verdi, Wagner or Puccini. He boasts excellent diction, allowing him to shine in Italian, German and French. He has met with resounding success everywhere and has punctuated his career with miraculous performances of Lohengrin, Werther and Don José among others. He excels in the intimate art of the lied, for which he is often accompanied by the great Helmut Deutsch.
The orchestra at the Opera Royal de Wallonie-Liège, conducted by Speranza Scappucci, will be accompanying the German star for this exceptional concert. A must-see!
