Everyone at the Royal Opera of Wallonia-Liège is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of soprano Jodie Devos this past Sunday, June 16.
Since her debut on our stage as Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” in 2015, Jodie has captivated audiences in a variety of leading roles, including Eurydice in “Orphée aux Enfers,” Susanna in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” Countess Adèle de Formoutiers in “Le Comte Ory,” Lakmé, Marie in “La Fille du régiment,” Gilda in “Rigoletto,” Philine in “Mignon,” and Ophélie in “Hamlet,” as well as in concert performances.
Her remarkable talent as both a singer and an actress, coupled with her engaging personality, quickly endeared her to our audience and colleagues alike. Jodie was as brilliant and moving on stage as she was pleasant and warm backstage, always a joy to be around.
Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this very difficult time.
